Opteka Flash for Sony

Same functionality as a Sony F42? or F36 at the least?

I beleive the Opteka EF-600 DG Super is made by Sigma. On the Dyxum.com review of the Sigma EF 500 DG Super, it seems that everyone commented on problems with exposure and the inferior build quality.

I really don't want to go cheap... I like the specs on the Sony 42... but just cannot choke down the $250 or $200 price tag. I just can't warrant spending that. In all honesty, for the shooting i do, the 36 would most likely be fine. I can find it on Ebay for around $155 tho i'm so not thrilled about the price or using Ebay. I thought IF this Opteka seemed like a decent product it'd be great alternative to the 42. I need to get this figured out soon...

Dyxum.com is agreat resource for user reviews of lenses, but they also have user reviews of flashes as well. Take a look at http://www.dyxum.com/flashes/index.asp

I decided to go ahead and give the Opteka a try. I'm breaking my own rule about "buy cheap, buy twice" but... i'm afraid right now i have to pinch every single penny i can. I hope it's not total junk.

Thanks for all the input... it's much appreciated as always. I'll check back in and report on the Opteka after some usage.
