(Firstly, I apologise if this post sounds flaunting.)

I got my first prime lens - Sony 50mm F1.4 (SAL50F14) for my alpha 350 the other day with sort of bargain. I am still excited.

I tried to get Minolta AF 50mm f/1.7 Lens from eBay, but always got overbid. Hence, I decided to get a Sony one instead. Due to recent huge drop in Aussie dollars, Sony's list price (RRP) suddenly increased a lot. For example, the Sony GN58 Flash's RRP was AU$699 in 2008, and it is now AU$899. (Lucky I got one last year.) Anyhow, the new RRP for the lens is AU$799, and I got it for AU$549 from a shop in Sydney. (Very few retailers would sell the stocked products at the old prices.)

Here are two test shots. The use of f/1.4 was probably unnecessary, well, I got to play with it.

Yes, thank you. And the 50 F1.4 lens is very light.

Some photos from last Saturday's Sydney Mardi Gras 2009, and I hope those photos are not offensive in any way.

(ISO 200, f/1.4, 1/1250)

(ISO 400, f/1.4, 1/20)

(ISO 200, f/7, 1/80, flash fired)

Sony Alpah 350, lens: 50mm F1.4 (SAL50F14), flash: Sony GN58.

Sydney Mardi Gras was at night, and many of them walked/moved very quick. I did not feel confident on increasing the ISO above 400. Due to the crowd, setting up a tripod would be a bad choice, perhaps I need a monopod.
