Well, if the first comparison is flawed, then second one is flawed too. Don't pick and chose. In any case, wait for more reviews. There are many other samples already posted on other sites. A550 will be way better than A700, both in high ISO performance and jpeg engine.

OK, Evil thought-

What about those who are cash strapped or beginners, we are still at the A-230 level. It seems like Sony left us out.

Why? A230 MSRP is $550. A500 (body only) is $750. A550 (body only) is $950. That's not that much difference. None of these are that expensive for a DSLR.

There should still be left a few a200/a300 around for a good price.

I bought my a300 for $440 from Sonystyle.com couple weeks before the official release of the new a230/a330/a380.

Hi Dave-

You mentioned the Sony 55-200mm lens. I have noticed that the price has fallen to less than $200 now. The lens is very sharp and I like it a lot.

Have a great Holiday weekend.

Hi Jim, Haven't on in awhile and I'm getting the urge to add a Sony body to my KM collection. Do all of the Sony bodies still have a motor drive to support non-SAM lenses or did they remove the focus motor in some of the bodies like Nikon?

So, try to post more often. ;-)

All Sony dSLR models still have built in motors for use with Minolta AF lenses.

Glad to hear that.... since I didn't want to have to buy any new lenses! Yeah right! LOL

What are you using these days? I think I recall you buying a 700 back when they came out.

That's what I'm still using (Sony A700).

It's discontinued now, but Sony should have a replacement ready sometime this year.
