Default Where am I going wrong with my A700

I have the camera set for high speed continuous shooting. The image size set to (L:12M). Quality is set to fine, manual focus and shutter speed is 250 or higher. My CF card is a Lexar professional 4GB @ 133X
The problem is I can shoot four quick frames then it slows to about one shot per second. That's not even close to it's ability. Is it the CF card inability to process the info quick enough? Or is it something else? Your thoughts would be appreciated.

There are any number of things that could be causing this, but the one that jumps out at me is the 133x CF card. The A700 can handle HDMI cards with transfer speeds of 233X, 266X and 300X. You might try a different card.

Even with a slower card (for example, an Ultra II), you should be able to get around 75 JPEG FINE images before the camera slows down much.

Shooting RAW with a slow card, you can expect around 14 images before the camera slows down (you'll get more with a faster card).

If I had to guess, you've got a setting somewhere causing the camera to slow down. For example, using one of the Advanced Settings for DRO (which would probably add processing time).

I'd reset your camera back to factory defaults. You'll find two different reset choices in the menus. One of them is for resetting Custom Functions (like your DRO settings). It's the last menu choice (RESET CUSTOM) under the custom settings menus. You'll also find a RESET DEFAULT menu choice under your Setup menus to reset the main camera settings.

If that doesn't fix it, try a different memory card .

Good Guess! It was the DRO. I do appreciate your help.
Thanks

also I use an extreme II in my A700 and I can shoot till the card as long as I want in continuous mode. I've never shot the entire 8GB card yet but did close to 200 images with no issues.
