Good camera for starters, however, the C330 is a better camera with tilting LCD screen for not much more. Amazon.com has it with 2 lenses combo for $599.

I think the A230 is a pretty good deal right now, at around $430 at some vendors. Here's one example:

It's missing the Live View you'd get with the A330. But, the A230 has a better viewfinder. There are pros and cons to both. In a two lens kit, the A330 is probably a better deal right now (very little price difference compared what it would cost you to add the 55-200mm on to the A230 kit). I'd try them out in a store to see how you like them before deciding.

Nice camera, just hold it in your hands and make sure it feels right. I have large fingers and the grip was not good for me.

That is the thing most people complain about is the reduced size of the grip and not as good as the older A200. You should try it out physically by visiting a camera store and buy it online if you like it.

The articulating LCD monitor on the A330/A380 sticks out the back further than the A230, so in addition to the A330/A380 having a voewfinder that's smaller, it's also harder to use.

It is okay, but not to keen on the current sony entry level line. You may want to look at other brands, they have dslr in this price range. But it will do the job as a starter.

All,

thank you for your imput. i have tested the camera it it's feels kinda small in my hands compare to the A700 and A900. But this will be a good camera for a female who's just starting out.

Also, what does everyone think about the SAL18-200 lens

It is a good range for an all in one walk around lens. F3.5 is respectable for lens in this range. It will allow you not to have to carry two lenses. I would not push the lens pass 190 to much as it will have distortion, common problem with zoom lenses.

The newer 18-250mm (versus older 18-200mm) is a much better lens (higher optical quality). But, you'll get better quality compared to either one of them by using more than one lens to cover the same zoom range (for example, a two lens kit with the 18-55mm and 55-200mm lenses).
