Default Problem with my trusty KM 5D!

Need help with my trusty Minolta 5D. When I press the shutter half-way to engage the auto focus, the camera will focus and then immediately start taking multiple shots (with the shutter still at half press). The camera is on single-frame advance.

Did I inadvertently do something to my settings to make it function this way?

It sounds like dust or something is causing an electrical short in your shutter button. Any photo store should be able to send it off for repair without charging much. If you are so inclined you might be able to do it yourself if you have any canned air or electrical contact cleaner, if you are careful.

How careful, and is there a write up on this anywhere? To think that my 5D may be on it's last leg makes me want to curl up in a ball and hide under my desk

Take it to a shop to get it fixed.
