Default 70-400 to the tide pools

I finally got a chance to get out with the 70-400 on my A-700. This lens is very big and heavy so you really need to be careful with it strapped around your neck or you can swing it into something and either dent/scratch the lens or break whatever you hit with it. Also rock hopping is difficult, the weight of the swinging lens can throw you off balance.

I bought an aftermarket neoprene neck strap to help with the weight of the lens and it seems to helps a lot. No more neck rash after a long hike.

I have to say that out of all the Minolta and Sony lens's that I've shot with the Sony 70-400 is my favorite. There's a special look to the images that I have never seen in any of my other lens's.

Minimal editing was done on these images. There just wasn't much that needed to be done.

The image quality is definitely as good as it gets for a zoom in this range.

I did about a two mile hike down a cliff to some tide pools.

EXIF is in the photo's.

This is my hiking partner at the top of the cliff.
Looking down towards the tide pools.

Kite surfing.
The tip of Point Fermin light house over the shrubs in San Pedro about 5 miles away.

Thanks for looking. This is a very impressive lens.
