There may be such a thing as too many models in one companies' line. The A33 and A55 may be intended as either APS-C Nex 3& 5's with an EVF, or APS-C bridge cameras with interchangeable lenses, or even Nex's with an EVF for movie shooters to rest their heads against. Their place in the overall scheme of things does not seem clear - maybe even a bit schizophrenic. I don't think they would be intending to use the pellicle EVF's to replace OVF DSLRs - too many serious shooters would not give up their OVF's and would just abandon Sony (maybe for Pentax rather than the Canikons, and not Oly or Panasonic if they want to stick to APS-C), which would hurt Sony's image as a serious contender in the photographic market.

The A560 seems mostly to be a 550 with movie capability. It widens the gap between the A500 and the 550 which it replaces, thus making the choice between models clearer. I wouldn't be surprised to see the 580 here before too long - Sony has so many models in production (including their multiplicity of P&S's) that even their vaunted production capacity may be limited, and they might not yet be able to supply the North American market with the 580. Or maybe they just don't want to introduce too many models all at once, which would dilute the impact of any one new model on the market. I wouldn't rule out further dslr introductions later in the year.

Did anyone else notice that the 560/580 were removed from the sonystyle webpage? It was there a few days ago, and now it's not. Weird.

Diana-

No, it is not weird at all. The A-560 and A-580 have been pushed back till at least the 1st Quarter of 2011, and there is some debate going on that they will not come to the USA market just as the A-450 did not.

That would be a true disservice to Sony fans here in the US. They look like 2 of the better DSLRs Sony has made recently.

I agree. It seems like it's done in an effort to push the a33 and a55, but that is just an assumption of course.

Sony USA says that the A580 will be available in the US in early November.
