Default A550 with the 50 f/2.8 macro

While trying to get a feel for the a550s metering and dynamic range I took a early morning hike to photograph small colorful plants and animals parts and rocks that have washed up on the beach.

The flip out LCD is great for this type of photography, and so is the 50 macro. It's very easy to handhold. You don't need to shoot at the small apertures thats required with the 100 macro to get a useful depth of field.

The metering problems that I have experienced with the A550 did not come into play with this type of photography. I was pleased with the results.

While walking along the beach I noticed these pelicans diving into the water. There must have been a lot of anchovies in that area. Unfortunately my 50mm lens was not the best lens to capture this event. I had to do some heavy cropping to get this.

And finally an example of the metering problem that has been discussed here with the A550. This was shot using a ND 4 filter and exposure compensation -1.
