You should definitely try it out or be able to easily return it. Many people dislike the EVF whilst others have no problem with it.

I'm sure you mean the a55. as the a580 is not translucent tech. it uses the regular sony pentamirror.

My mistake on the A580, nevertheless, the specs look good and is cheap ($800 body only). Good way to upgrade without costing an arm and a leg.
