Default New Sigma 70-200

I got my new 70-200 f/2.8 Sigma (alphabet soup goes here)

I did four shots across the yard this morning at different lengths. Full auto changing nothing except focal length

#1 full image at 70mm followed by 100% crop

Congrats on the new lens. But, don't you already have a Minolta 80-200mm f/2.8?

Yes I do. Against some of your advice I traded from the Black lens to the White model of the Minolta to be able to use the same tc's. Did not work and the White lens attracts too much attention in some situations (you had warned me about this)

The Sigma is dead quiet compared to the Minolta and also seems to focus a bit faster.

I don't think Minolta TCs will work on the 80-200mm f/2.8G APO HS version, if that's the one you have now (although some third party TCs should work). But, other than that, it's a pretty decent lens by most accounts.

The two that I have for my 300mm should have worked but the zoom that I ended up with was from the first run of production and the only thing changed was the color. If I would have known to find a later production model I could have avoided the TC debacle (supposedly)

The 80-200 is a nice lens and other than the color and noise I had no issues with it and was pleased with the results. The noise might just be this lens but both zoom and focus are smooth from end to end.

I am liking what I see thus far. It is big an heavy but on par with most lenses in this class. I do like the (almost) silent focus

I am looking forward to tomorrow evening and the games. I shamelessly copied JohnG's monopod setup and am hoping for some good results.
