Default The new rumored a77?

I have recently been looking again at the alpha a55 and I am liking it. I don't think the viewfinder would really be a problem for me, and other than that, the reviews seem to point to it being a really great camera it seems.

But I was also looking at rumors of the a77 which is supposed to be announced next year I think in January. My question is this:

If you had to make a good guess, how much would you think that the a77 would be, based on rumored information, if you have heard? Much more than the a55? If so, I would be much less inclined to wait and see what the a77 will be instead of continuing to look at the a55. I would think that it will be much more, 1500+? but I have little to no idea how cameras are usually priced, and that is why I am asking the community, who probably has a better feel for these things than I do.

Thank you!

First, there really isn't any hard data on what the specs and features of the rumored "A77" will be, so speculating how much it will cost is troublesome. But I think that Sony has the low and mid levels of APS-C dSLRs covered, and an "A77" will probably cost significantly more than the current camera bodies.

I think that, if we see an "A77", it will probably cost at least the same price as the Nikon D7000, but probably cheaper than the Canon 7D.

Sony has not announced an A77. The only thing we know is that are working on an A700 replacement (since they've repeated that multiple times). But, no details have been released, so anything else is only speculation and rumor.

My best guess...around $1399 (which is what I paid for my A700).

I don't believe this new technology has yet been embraced by the camera market at levels that would sustain a $1400 price tag. $999 would be my guess unless the A55 does remarkably well between now and then.

Sony has not made any details available about the A700 replacement (they're holding specifics about the replacement model pretty "close to the vest" so far -- probably so that sales of other new products already shipping won't be effected, as year end sales are very important to most manufacturers). So, I wouldn't make too many assumptions before we know what the camera will be capable of. ;-)
