Default House Pictures - wireless Flash

Sony a550, HVL-F42AM flash. I was taking some in-house pictures for a friend and he (a p&ser) was most excited about the wireless capability. he expected great iq but when i got him to pretend to be a light stand and hide behind doors to light rooms, wow! (actually this image is from 2 shots autostiched together, pp with autoHDR and irfanview).

now that i think about it, i'll not be able to go a850 or a900. i'm not buying 2 expensive flashes. anyway, here's one example.

Hello Frank. How does the off camera, flash mechanism, function on the A550?

I too have an A550 and have the HVL-F58AM flash that I am learning to use.

It works better than you'd ever expect. Pop up the body flash, set to WL, turn on the f42 (that's mine) and set to WL also. My flash showed CH1 right away. I left that alone. Then fire away.

I used M setting aperture to f/5.6. S was 1/160 so the sync was fine. In the pic posted the flash is actually sitting on the night stand behind the left side door. Not even visible. Still it fired reliably. A few trials and errors playing with the bounce reduced the sharp shadows to my satisfaction.

Only small hitch was to wait long enough for the caps to recharge if doing many shots in a row.
