It makes me want one...I just need to wait for prices to drop a bit.

Have just bought the A33 body 14.6 megapixels rather than the 16.7 megapixels of the A55 - somehow I don't think I will notice! Also of course the A55 has GPS and a higher price.

So far I love it and have even played successfully with the video.
I wish it were heavier and bulkier but that is just me.

I even caught up with the Sony Xmas promotion of a $A100 cash back or an
accessories package with case and spare battery - I chose the accessories as I am suspicious of the battery life of the camera

Oh you will. It's not about 2 MP. The 16 MP sensor in A55 has lower noise than the 14 MP sensor in A33.

The price difference is only $100, and you get better sensor, GPS, 10 fps, better battery life -- all of it for $100. A55 is better buy.

The a33 will not dissappoint. The differences are pretty minor, although if you want top notch quality and you have the extra $ then the a55 is a better buy.
Btw, the a33 sensor is maybe a half stop slower then the a55, the fps difference is 7 and 10fps, the a55 has better battery life by like 70 pics, and the a55 has a bigger buffer and GPS. If any of those extra features are a must then you shoould go a55. For me, I would be stretching my christmas budget to get the a33, plus none of those features appeal to me (except maybe the half stop). So I think I'll be going a33

EDIT: I've been reading and the difference is a lot less than half a stop. So I am certainly going a33.

I've used both the A33 and A55 and decided to get the A55. Main reasons - little faster, better battery life, a bit better in low light -

and lastly I'd always be wondering if the A55 was better if I got the A33.

Price difference between the A55 and the A33 is about $200 here in Oz.

Having seen your thread "Sony A33 Shots" I only hope I can get near your quality with the A33......mind you, your comment above about wondering does apply!

Many times I "under buy" because I'm cheap but this time I told myself "go ahead and get what you really want". I'm very happy with the A55 so far. - no more "wondering".

The A33 is a terrific camera and for most of us I think it would really be hard to tell the difference in the pictures.
