Default Sony A33 or A390

Hello,

I am looking to purchase a new dSLR and I am drawn to Sony's because I have owned one in the past (an A200), and I have enjoyed it. So I am looking to purchase a new dSLR now and I am wondering which model is the better buy for average, everyday shooting?

I am drawn more to the A33, but what do you guys think?

Thanks!

A33 can be had for $600 after a $50 rebate.

The online store price for the A390 is $450. If you can do without the HD video feature, then the A390 is a good choice and it is also $150 less than the A33. The A33 has a translucent mirror which give you better live view if you use this feature a lot. There is a review on the A33 on this site. Read it and it will give you some idea.

There is no sales tax when you buy it online. This will save you some bucks.

Have you tried them both?

The A33 is smaller than your A200. Also, the A33 has a shorter battery life.

Another thing to consider is that both the A33 and the A390 use different batteries than your A200. If you intend to keep the A200, you'll need to keep two sets of batteries and two sets of chargers. The A560 & A580 (and the A450 if you can get one) use the same batteries (and chargers) as your A200, which could make your life a little simpler.
