Default Overheating warranty service?

I have an a33 and I was getting the overheating warning shooting burst while at Zoo Atlanta yesterday. It was about 90 outside. I contacted Sony Tech support and within a few hours they had told me to send the camera in for service. I am wondering if I send the camera in for service if they could do anything except make me feel like they are honoring the warranty.

Has anyone received warranty service for this issue? If there is no real fix from Sony then I don't want to waste time, or money, sending my camera to Texas for "repair".

I live in Suwanee and got the same "warning" while out shooting stills in the 90 degree heat (sun and shade). I just turned the camera off for a few seconds and it seemed to be fine. I have the A55. I wasn't even shooting burst mode.

If it really bothered you, you should send it in to see if they really have a fix for it. Sometimes Japanese companies are reluctant to have a massive recall which will cost them a lot of money. Just look at the Toyota fiasco! I guess this is a true test of how Sony stands on backing up their products. The overheating problem is keeping a lot of people from buying the A33 and A55, myself included. If you decide to send the A33 in, please inform us on how the repair goes.

I'd also be interested to know if Sony has a fix.
I thought the problem was with Video and that it could be cured by switching the Stabilizer off so I wasn't too bothered.

Off to Florida on Tuesday so I might get a chance to see if my A55 overheats

Default I have to ask...

Does your camera kind of look like this, at the end of the day?

LOL - no - that's how I look at the end of the day. Mid 90's here for the next 5 days.
