It is a good thing, you got a tool that gives you allot more ability the more shooting you to the more developed your skills get. Glad you are enjoying your camera.

Tom, I have to say I'm pretty impressed with the level of detail my cheap 55-200mm lens is achieving.
You do have to admit, the results are better than expected.

Sure, it's softer wide-open, but that's not inherently a bad thing, especially for portraits. Besides, who would shoot landscapes at a wide-open aperture?

The Sony/Tamron 55-200 is quite a respectable lens, and quite a bargain.
