Default Battery life

I have two cameras, the A550 and the A33.

The battery in the 550 is excellent and any discharge when not in use is negligable.

The A33 however is a disaster. It may take a reasonable amount of photos as reported but too quickly flattens.

When not in use, there is still a steady discharge and if I haven't used it for a while (couple of weeks) the battery is in need of a charge having fallen well below 50%. The camera is always turned off when not in use..

I am losing patience and although I like the A33, I feel it is time for it to go.

Is this normal for this type of camera perhaps I call it a day with the A33 and stick to the A550 until my lotto numbers come up

This has caused me over a period to have 3 spares, all Sony.

Is this a common experience with the SLT camera and are the newer ones any better

The A33 (and the A35, A37, and A55) use the same battery as the NEX series of cameras. The new A57, as well as the A65 and A77 use the same battery as the A550 you've got now.

Default Batter Life

Thanks Marawder and TCav for excellent quick replies.

It looks like it is a battery problem then, not really the camera.

I sold my A33, which I enjoyed a lot. Never noticed an overt battery drain problem with it though.

Bought an A57 to replace it. Muy bueno. No regrets. A solid upgrade.
