Hey Marawder....

You posted this to an old thread about a Sony firmware update. So, I moved your post to a separate thread (this one).

Congrats on the new lens. I've always appreciated the build and optical quality of the SP (Super Performance) Tamron lenses.

So, I think you'll enjoy your new optics. Please let us know how you like it when you have a chance to use it some more.

Congratulations! I'm pleased to hear that you like it, and I'm looking forward to seeing some samples.

How does this lens compare to the Sony G 70-300?

Well for one, the Sony 70-300G starts at f/4.5, and at 135mm you're already down to f/5.6, whilst the Tamron starts at f/4 and at 135mm you're only down to f/4,5.

I'll post some test shots later on, but I can tell you the Tammy is very sharp at all apertures, and overall it performs better than the Sony.

Even wide-open, with very contrasty scenes, there's almost no CA.
It has nice color rendition, instant AF over-ride, very quiet and accurate focusing.

The Sony 70-300G just ISN'T WORTH THE PRICE TAG!
