I just received my 7d today. There already seems to be a defect. The LCD is barely visible even at maximum brightness. Has anyone else seen this problem? Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks

Take it back!!

When I got my first 7D, it had a dead pixel.

The screen on the 7D is nice and clear and bright when in the menu mode. If not, take it back for an exchange.

There seems to be more than one problem. I am also getting an icon in the viewfinder that looks like a blinking camera. This happens with both of my lenses, which one is a Minolta AF 28-100 and the other is a Tamron AF 70-300. It would appear that I got a truly defective camera.

The blinking icon in the viefinder is correct. Mine does that. Not sure if it means be carful for camera shake, or that you have the anti-shake switched on.

If it's for low light, pop up the flash and see if it stops.

I assumed it was an error condition, as when it happens the auto focus will not function. I also did not find any reference to the icon in the user manual.

What AF mode is the camera in when it shows up? When in continuous [AF] mode there will be a blinking circle with some lines next to to. . .kinda like a shake warning (but thats not what it is)

Yes, removing the blue film was the first thing I did. The LCD acts like the backlight is dead.

Page 17 of the manual shows the camera icon in the viefinder window, and what it is. It's item #12, and says it's the camer shake warning.

LCD backlight is on pg. 109 of the manual. It appears it can be set for different seconds, but no "off" setting, but check this first.

I used the 7d for 5 hours yesterday, and in the middle of the day, the LCD backlight started working. Very weird. Should I still try to return it, or take a chance on it? I bought the extended warranty with it.
