I have some older Minolta gear, and thinking of picking up the 7D (i wish they went with 8MP instead of 6MP -uhhh!)

I know I'd atleast have to get the FS-1100 flash shoe adapter to connect the 4000AF Flash, but would it work reasonably well? Or would I just be better off with the 2500(D)?

it will only fire fully without any control

get the 2500(D)

better yet get the 5600HS(D) hi speed sync at all shutter speeds

Without any control, meaning the cammera's exposure will not be specific to the flash?

I guess that makes it kind of useless. too bad

thanks for the response.

No, not useless, but inconvenient.

The flash has a 'guide number' (look in manual)and can be used with camera's full manual mode.

Set the camera shutter speed to 1/125, divide the guide number by the focus distance to obtain the f stop. (the guide number will vary with the selected iso)

For studio or planned shots this is actually a good thing!

I don't know too much about flash photography....

but would it be wise to hold onto teh 4000af in hopes to use it as a studio flash in conjunction with a 2500(d) (or better) flash ontop of the camera?

What exactly would i need to synch the two flash's together?
