I've got a boatload of old AC power adaptors collecting dust so I'm damned if I'm going to pay good money (US$60 at B&H!!!) for Minolta's AC-11. From the camera body itself, it looks like it needs 6VDC centre-positive. Is 500mA enough? Or does it need more? What does the AC-11 actually say that it supplies?

The NP-400 actually says that it provides 7.4V and the underbelly of the 7D body actually says 9VDC.

So, what's acceptible for the AC adaptor? Is the 6V label on the rubber cover just a minimum?

Thanks.

Quoting another forum

"on the back it says:Output 6V dc 2A (input 100v - 240v 50/60hz)The plug is center positive (<->-C-<+>)"

http://www.photographytalk.net/viewtopic-50655.html

Hope that helps

Shanti, thank you for the information.

2A seems like quite a bit. Has there been any testing done with a more typical 1A supply?
