1 question.

Did you turn on the 'Shutter Lock' when no lens?? :?

The shutter lock was on. I tried it with it off too; same thing. Like I said, the cameras at the stores did it too. I can physically feel the camera vibrate when it is turned on, just like the ones I tried at the stores. I have to assume this is "normal".

Turn on sound

And I can assure you that my 5D is in perfect working order.

p.s. the 7D is a different camera.

I have had my new 5D for a month now and it has never made that noise. Maybe a bad batch out there?

Mine makes a similar noise. Haven't had any problems in the week I have it. It didn't worry me since my old 3000 body did similar. Figured it's just the sound of focusing to infinity. The manual says it does this in both manual and auto focus settings.
