I need a zoom tele for taking outdoor sports shots to use with my 5D. Would the KM 75-300

be a good choice? What do I need to look for or be aware/wary of when looking?

I'm a little perplexed about waiting for things to settle, can't figure out if lens will drop in price or go up, or if they'll just become even more hard to find. Right now the km 75-300 looks like a good price, if I'm looking at the right lens. What identifiers should I look for?
Unfortunately I need it by the end of February

Some things you need to determine is how much you can spend, how far away you'll be from the subject(s) and if you'll be shooting any night sports.

- How much$$$ you have will determine the quality of lens you can get.
- How far away will determine what focal length(s) will be suited for you.
- If you're shooting night sports, a faster lens would be a big plus.

The 75-300mm is a compromise in lens quality, but gives you good reach and range.

Price is definitely going to be the main issue here. I use a Sigma 70-200 2.8 lens which gives great results whichI got this off of eBay for a very good price. This is far better than the Tamron 70-300 4-5.6 which I also have as a light weight lens. Get the most expensive glass that you can. Below is an example of this lens in work.

Beautiful Shot..

That lens looks like it is pretty heavy. I have a KM28-75 2.8 and a km75-300
I was thinking about the km100-300 or one of the 70-200,210's don't know which one. I need to keep the weight down, but I don't want to sacrifice sharpness.

I wonder if there is some sort of "current" rating specifically outlining the lens suitable (made for digital camera) for the 5D/7D digitsl csmeras.

Only thing I've seen seems to include film lenses, lense out of prodution, or doesn't have the newer available lens.

Thanks

Sure is a heavy beast so only us if for sports when I am not going for a trek. Otherwise I use my Tamron 70-300. I would have a look at the Sigma 70-300 APO DG. That will give results somewhere between my Tamron and the Sigma 70-200. It is also light enough to use every day.

The KM 100-300 APO would be a good choice, Finding one may be hard.
