That's a good price if it doesn't have a catch (high shipping costs, etc.).

The lowest price I see from a reputable vendor in our price search engine is $299 from buydig.com

Anyone much lower than buydig.com is usually one of the Brooklyn based scam artists.

So where do you live?

Prices here in Finland are about insane so I've used shops in central Europe.

Word was (before Sony's takeover) that a new "digital only" flash was in the works. I was looking to get a 5600HS(D) for my 7D, but will wait until after PMA to see if any new flash units are announced by Sony.

I went with the Sigma EF500 DG Super from Cameta auctions on eBay, for $160. They ship internationally too.

I just picked up a Promaster 7500 DX from onecall.com for $138. It's about as powerfull as the 3600 HS but also swivels. Seems to work very nicely with my 5D but I've only just taken about 20 test shots.

edit - I also have the 5600 which works very well on the 5D but is 2x the price. For $138 the 7500dx seems to be a good deal.

I live also in Finland. 5600 HS (D) costs here $448 (379€). That's why I' searching cheaper and good flash.
Is 5600 HS (D) better then Sigma or Promaster?

When I was shopping recently, I could not find evidence that the Minolta 5600 HS (D) was better than the Sigma EF500 DG Super, but one feature the sigma has is the ability to work as a slave with any camera which the minolta supposedly cannot. The minolta unit probably feels and looks a little more expensive, which of course it is.
