Anyone have any experience with one of these...the set that attaches to the top of your flash unit? I happened to notice it on the list of accessories on the minolta website, wondered how good of a job they actually do.

Darlene, it may be a moot point, since everything I try to buy is listed as out of stock or discontinued.

I remember seeing these from film camera days. and they seem to work well. I have seen several used Minolta flashes on eBay with the velcro still attached from such add-ons,

Darlene, I have used lumiquest for many years because i dont like the harsh blistering light that comes from a flash. All these units soften and warm the light on the subject. They may look funny on your flash, but the proof is in the photo!!!!!:bye:

I came across this as well. I do not know how well it works but it sure is interesting.

You may want to try a "knock off" instead and save a few bucks. This is a listing at a reputable Hong Kong based vendor:

If you search Ebay for Lambency, you'll find more of them.

Wow…..Hey thanks Jim.:-) Yes that's defiantly a huge price difference. I'm going to try one and see how it does. Studio lighting is always nice, but who likes to lug around all that equipment?

I've been meaning to order one to see how well the orange dome works using a flash when dragging the shutter in tungsten lighting, so that the color of the flash would be closer to the temperature of the ambient light (hopefully, making it easier to set WB when shooting that way). Your post jogged my memory about it. lol

I have used some of the big square Cokin filters in front of my soft box (Lumniquest Soft Box) for that same effect. It actually works very/very well. I kinda like the idea of the 360 degree of light. Since you brought that up, I will for sure be ordering one.
