Totally agreed with Mercury. I think it is definitely worth the money and works quite well other than at the wider apertures. It makes a great all-in-one lens to take out on a sunny day. I would use Aperture Priority and not let it slip below f5.6. Definitely not quite as sharp as a prime lens or the 28-75 f2.8 as discussed in the other thread, but those differences are often only visible in close comparison of crops. I still want to have my prime and premium lenses with shorter zoom range and larger apertures for more professional shoots, but for most purposes this lens is GREAT! The built is not the greatest. In fact, the focus ring detached alreadyfrom the barrel and I had to put a drop of crazy glue on it to reattach it, but it's lightweight, compact and optically quite good.

Is the lens worth the money? I thinking about getting a second lens formy camera.
Trust me, it's a great lens andI'm never wrong............ and if I am, I'll never admit it.

Spot focus and tracking work very well.

Here is one I took the afternoon with the Tamron 28-300. Focus was instant and tracking works great.

Gorgeous!!! I still love this lens. It's going to be interesting which one I will keep mostly on my camera once I receive the KM28-75 f2.8 lens. I did the Adorama deal, by the way. Bought the 7D with the lens for $899and resold the body on ebay for $799 but with a used, cheap 28-100 3.5-5.6 lens. So, effectively I am getting the 28-75 2.8 lens for just over $100. I'll definitely run a few comparisons.

PS: Here is a similar shot from last week. The focus is spot on with the Tamron 28-300 I find. It only hunts sometimes in low light.

Here's the one I actually posted first tonight, but then something weird happened to the image and no matter how many times I uploaded it came out screwed up until I uploaded with a different filename.
