In a previous post, you may recall, I asked about the Promaster 7500DX. My local camera shop didn't have it so I got a 5750DX instead.

After playing with it this weekend I realized there was a problem with it on my 5D. If the camera is set to "fill-flash" it fires at full power every time. If I put the camera on "red eye" for some reason it worked better...but not always. Still a lot of over exposure.

I e-mailed Promaster and got the following response...

The #9823DX Minolta module for the 5750DX flash works with the 7D
and all Minolta Dimage cameras that can accept an external flash. But
Minolta made a change in the flash system of the 5D making the flash with the
#9823DX module fire at full power. Promaster was in the process of making an updated module when Minolta announced that they were going out of business. This updated module has been put on hold until we find out what Sony will be doing with the rights to Minoltas SLR technology that they purchased.

Looks like I'll be returning the flash.

Seems to me like they should make it work with the 5D regardless of what Sony does if they want to sell units. Guess it's just not worth their while.
