Amazon got them in stock - or worked their way down through the list till they got to me, anyway.

My first reaction was "Huge!"

After putting it on the camera, my reaction was "fast". No hunting on focus - though I must admit, conditions were perfect.

I took this shot at the max zoom of 500mm and handheld (wobbly). I am very pleased with the results.

The Link works for me.

But, you want to make sure you don't buy the lens the link goes to (it's for the Nikon mount version of the Tamron 200-500m, and it wouldn't mount on a KM DSLR). ;-)

I'm sorry!

Tamron SP Autofocus 200-500mm f/5-6.3 Di LD (IF) Lens for Konica Minolta DSLR Cameras
Other products by Tamron
More about this product
List Price: $1,454.95
Price: $886.15 & this item ships for FREE with Super Saver Shipping.
and there is a tamron $30 rebate that i think applies.

I had some credit and a gift certificate, so I got it for a bit cheaper.

It took six weeks, as they have been backordered.

Hope this helps.

Looks sharp. Although you may want to clean your sensor.

That lens is quite sharp - Just check its MTF's against other Canon's in the same focal range...

+ antishake = winning combination!

I noticed in the review posted above that it mentions this lens has zoom creep. Is it like the Sigma 170-500 where the zoom literally falls with a crash each time the lens is mistakingly lowered too quickly, or is it highly controlled?

I'm considering this lens but it is sure hard to give up the fixed aperture of the Sigma 100-300 F4 that I keep searching for. I imagine this lens may be equally sharp or sharper at 300mm than the Sigma, plus it has a little extra range. Aperture difference is minimal if the Sigma is used with a 1.4x TC. Sorry, I'm rambling...just trying to work out which lens I will pursue.
