I am considering purchasing a KM 5D. Is the kit lense worth the buy? Is it a good starting point lense? Or should I think about buying body only, and going purchasing another lense altogether?

I know of course there are better, and higher quality lenses out there, but I am just wondering if the kit lense is worth hanging on to.

Anyone have any problems with their 5D?

I have the 5D and kit lens, and I find it quite good. Some complain it is too soft, and some don't like it at all. I think most find it a good lens. If you get the 18-70, a nice companion is the 28-300 Tamron from Cameta for $144.95.

I got the body only and now wish I had the kit lense. If for no other reason because it gives you a decent wide angle to start off with.

The 5D isn'tusually much less as a body only. The kit lens is OK, but at the wide end I can clearly see distortion at the edges especially if the photo contains straight lines. It is what it is.... a basic lens. You may like it,as some do, but don't expect miracles.
