The still images produced by my DSC-F717 camera are mostly white with very little picture details visible. It looks like the image is covered with white grid filter. I did the camera reset. The video mode and multi-burst mode are working OK. Sony claims that camera "required service" and asking ~$210 for that without any explanation of the problem. Any advice or recommendations, including some local repair shops (Chicago area, IL) would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Vladimir

I would point them to this page, and tell them you think the problem sounds like it could be a bad sensor and ask for an explanation of what is wrong with your camera.

If it's a defective sensor, they should fix it for free.

Thanks for reply. I have seen the note about Sony censor problem, but unfortunately my case is different. The camera mode works fine and the problem exists only in still pictures mode. I will try to get more support from Sony, but I am not sure that their service system is organized to protect the client's interests.

Vladimir
