You're correct, JimC-

Those Sony R-1 seem to be disappearing out of inventory, rather quickly. As I said, the R-1 is very tempting indeed.

Sony's got a lens coming out that will match it's angle of view on a KM or Sony DSLR model (equivalent to using a 24-120mm lens on a 35mm camera). The lens alone will be about as much as you can buy the DSC-R1 for including it's lens. lol

That would be another option though (get this lens and shoot with it on a Sony or KM DSLR). You'd also have the performance benefits of a DSLR over the DSC-R1. We'll have to wait until it's shipping for reports on it's quality.

Abe's of Maine still has the Sony R-1 in stock for $658, with one cent shipping.
