Awesome!* My favorite was the one of the ship's bow.* What stitching program do you use, Nick?**

Hi RiaRia,

Glad you liked the panos. I use 'Autostitch'. Google it.

Have you heard/confirmed that the R-1 has been discontinued??

Regards, Nicholas

Discontinued?* Of course, that's because THEY knew I just bought one ... THEY are always conspiring against me!* ** *Seriously, maybe they just don't want to be competing against their own product line?* I have seen pics from the Alpha, and the R1's are better.* Ria

Realy nice panos, Nick-

We have often sailed on the Norwegian Spirit. Your photos brought back many happy cruising memories. Thanks!

Ria-

I know that there are many and variable opinions out there about a Sony R-1 replacement. However, I personally believe that Sony is committed to focusing on their new DSLR line, and the R-1 is out of the picture now.Selling lenses has a much better profit margin than just cameras. I liked your your informal R-1 portraits of your older friend.

Hi Nick

Great collection of photos. Those panos ..... I might be the last kid on the block to noticethis ... but in order to view the largest size I had to scroll rather than get full picture all in one .... and suddenlyI 'realised' that it was just like being there and slowly turning from side to side surveying the scene. Very exciting indeed and looks like a great holiday.

Best wishes

Glyn

Hello All,

Gald you enjoyed the Spirit MTclimber.

Glyn, your comments about my panoramas just made my day.

My intent was to have you see the scene as it looked to me.

Knowing you saw what I saw makes my attempt successful and very satisfying indeed. I have a few more to post once I get some time in the colder months to creat them.

Was at Phot Plus Expo in NY, Sony is never there.

Most importnt info was from Zeiss counter asuring mt the Alpha A100 Zeiss lens of 16-80 3.5-4.5 is on schedule for november delivery. This will match the R-1's 24-120 mm range and hopefully equal it in Image Quality.

Regards, Nicholas

Nick-

My complaint with the CMOS imager on the Sony A-100 is that it is pretty noise prone, especially at higher ISO settings. Perhaps, that Zeiss 16-80mm lens would be better (show less noise) on the K-M 5D or 7D.

Isn't that lens scheduled to sell for just about the same price that the Sony R-1is currently fetching?I will stick with my R-1.

Hi MT,

I don't think there is anyone who could pull my R1 away from my hands.

I am interested in the Zeiss lens for the Alpha, ONLY IF, Sony does not make an R2.
