Hello All,

Caught a great hour of Puerto Rican and Carribean music and dance at our local library - it was a free show as well.

R-1, PP in PSE4 but with Neat Image batch processing first.

It was a great performance. Hope my images give it justice.

Regards, Nicholas

Nice shots, Nick-

I think you captured the moment very nicely.

Hi, Nicholas - you did a wonderful job, the performers expressions were especially well captured. Made me feel almost as if I had been there.

One of the things I miss the most about living so far from a city and civilization are the fantastic libraries and live music. Cheers! Ria

P.S. (I seem to be having trouble with action shots lately. What settings did you use, if you don't mind me asking? Did you use any flash?)

Hello MT and Ria, and All,

I only used the flash 2 or 3 times once others were using their flash.

Didnt want to be the first to do so and get yelled at. They made no prior announcements.

I used it only to compare to my non flash shots.

Shot all over the place, from ISO 400 at 1/30 to 1600 at 1/60 - 1/80.

I was changing my settings from shot to shot. Relied on Auto-focus this time.

Some were shot at 3 MP to enable Smart Zoom.

Many are soft focus due to their movement and/or my movement, but I was hoping to capture the moment.

The band just emailed me and they Loved the pictures'.

It was a great performance.

Regards, Nicholas

Hello, Nicholas and thankyou.

I had a good time studying your shots. As you know I am keen to develop non-flash style of photographing indoor action so thankyou for sharing the tech information. I have not yet even tried smart zoom. You certainly were capturing moments. Ihad not problem with the sharpness of images .... I think that without a camera, my eyes are 'capturing' swirls and shifting expressions rather than cloth and faces.

I certaily feel you got the live performance rather than people standing on a stage.
Lovely.

All the best

Glyn.
