UPDATE - UPDATE - UPDATE

1) Sony shipped the HD Cord and the MS Pro Duo on 3/22/07.

The tracking info was incorrect as I learned today. After calling Sony, I had to fax Sony a form after signingit. I was able toscan and email it back. Otherwise the Rep said it would take '10 days to research the shipment'.

The tracking info now shows that this tiny package is in the Soration Center in Wisconsin, and will be delivered on April 3, 2007, by the USPS, not Fedex. Sony's free ground shipping involves giving it to Fedex who then gives it to the USPS for delivery.

BY THE WAY, when I complained that I had to fax them a signature for them to discover when they shipped the items in #1, I suggested that maybe I should cancel my order, the Rep stated "You can do that". I immediately responded that she should not be so quick to lose an order as Samsung is on Sony's back. The Rep changed her attitude.

2) I then asked for my camera, the H9, and the battery.

The Rep stated the following "The H9 is due in the warehouse on 4/11/007 and the battery is due in the warehouse on 3/28/2007. The warranty will follow after the camera is shipped. Once in the warehouse they will be shipped."

So it seems I will get my camera about 7 to 10 days after 4/11/2007.

New Update:

Sony suprised me. They shipped my extra battery:

"Qty:
1
Description: NP-BG1 Lithium-ion Rechargeable Battery Pack
Date Shipped: 03/28/07 "

Well now all they have to ship is my H-9 (and the 4 year accident warranty).

I haven't received anything yet.

Update:

SonyStyle H9Purchase page is now missing the Accessories Tab:

http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTE...p;Dept=cameras

Click on the H9 image.

Click on the Pre-order tab, only the warranty is listed.

For the moment Sony has stopped selling the battery, MS Pro Duo, HDm Cord, AC Power Cord.

Hi, Nicholas:

Do you know if the battery, charger and remote are the same as those used on the R-1?

Hi Ria,

They are very different. I have 3 batterires for my F828 and R-1, and the wall socket charger, about $50, I forget.

At least the wall socket charger comes with the H9. I bought the extra battery knowing the 3" LCD will usesome energy.

My main concern when I get the camera is finding a UV filter for it.

Ignore those on the web saying the lens hood is enough protection. To use the AF assist lamp or the Built-in flash, the hood should be removed.

Also to remove dust from my UV filter is a worry free wipe, not so with the lens itself.

74mm filters are nowhere to be found. I will wait, if i have to, for Sony's offering once available.

For our family it is Palm Sunday. Best wishes to all who celebrate the Lenten Season.

Nicholas

Further H7/H9 details, Japonese but apicture is worth a thouand words:

http://www.sony.jp/products/Consumer...H7/sample.html

There are 4 links just below the wide picture of the H7. Each is very informative.

The 5 links below these 4 links are further details.

REQUIRED CLARIFICATION ****:

My numerous posts on the H9 are intended to provide a source of info on this camera.

It may be a big disappointment.

I am willing to take a chance on Sony by pre-ordering before formal reviews.

I do not suggest that you do the same. Remember the 'failures' of the Olympus and Panasonic cameras.

Regards,

Nicholas

Am watching and waiting for the H9. Although I love my H5, the flash recycle times are a pain with the 2AA batteries inadequate. Hoping that the H9 is adequately powered if the flash is as powerful as the H5.

I was looking at a SLR but with theH9 features in a camera costing a little more than an extra SLR lens .................
