That is a good question. Not sure.

Sony MS Pro Duo Spec:

"Transfer Speed{parallel transfer} 160Mbps (20MB/sec)

Minimum Write Speed 15Mbps"

Link to Sony did not work. Go to SonyStyle.com and lick to MS Pro Duo.

Sandisk Press release/Spec:

"Each SanDisk Ultra II card features a minimum write speed of 9 megabytes per second (MB/sec.) and a minimum read speed of 10MB/sec."

http://www.sandisk.com/Corporate/PressRoom/PressReleases/PressRelease.aspx?ID=3320

I haven't found any independent tests.

Some say write speeds are the same as they are camera dependent.

Some say download speeds are very different. Unable to confirm.

Hope this helps.

Nicholas

Thank you Nicholas for the reply.

Looks like Sony card is faster. I believe sandisk wanna get rid of itsoriginal Mobile Memory Stick PRO Duo™ Cards(the blue ones) so the faster Ultra II and Extreme[suP]®[/suP] III are gonna be their major MS pro duo cards in themarket.

Let'scheck their Extreme III

http://www.sandisk.com/Products/Cata...k_PRO_Duo.aspx

at minimum 18MB per second. that's about 1GB/min.

Ok i get it. even sony makes 2 kinds of mspro duo

GS series at min 15 Mbps(about 2MB/s)

and hi speed GN series at Maximum Speed: 80 Mbps(=10MB/s)

This is what i'm thinking. Buy a faster one such as sandisk extreme III for daily use. and get a cheaper/big capacity one just in case. oh wait, i haven't got the camera yet

If you guys are not tired of me, allow me to sum up this a little.

For H7/H9, you need Memory Stick Pro Duo for recording fine size 640 movie

Sony makes 2 types of MS PRO DUO and Sandisk has 3.

SanDisk Mobile Memory Stick PRO Duo™ Cards: no speed info
SanDisk Ultra[suP]®[/suP] II Memory Stick PRO Duo™:
[*]Minimum of 10MB/second** sequential read speed for amazingly fast image viewing and data transfer [/*][*]Minimum 9MB/second** sequential write speed lets you capture large image files faster SanDisk Extreme[suP]®[/suP] III Memory Stick PRO Duo™:
SanDisk Extreme® III MS PRO Duo [/*][*]Min 18MB/second** sequential readand write

Sony MS pro duo (normal blue one): no speed info
Sony'sHigh Speed Memory Stick PRO Duo™ :
Maximum Read Speed: 80 Mbps2 =10 MB/s
Maximum Write Speed: 80 Mbps2

later all[/*]

Hello, caddie
Do not forget to figure out how fast H9 can write on the media (SONY or SunDisk or any other brand)
It might be the major limitation in overall writing speed.
BTW speed can't affect quality of photos you will take
Advice: do not buy MS on Ebay
