You were faster than me, Buda. Yes, not only it's up, it pretty much confirms what manyusers have been saying aboutitsproblems with image quality. It did not even get the "recommended" rating. DCresource posted some images (review is not out yet) and they look horrible to me. I imagine the folks at Canon are celebrating victory over Sony with the to be released S5. I guess they were less marketing oriented and decided totake a moreconservative approach. By keeping the 12x lens, they will assure that image quality is the best one can get. I think they will win the battle against Sony and Olympus this time around...and I'm not a Canon fan!

Wow I was wrong as well saying it would only get "Recommended" and not "Highly Recommended", this is the only H series not to score "HR". as I said in another thread "...blind freddy can see this camera has problems.... No F series or the R1 has ever before not won the "HR", with this "Above Average" rating for the H9 hopefully Sony will havelearnt a lesson, as all the reviews Neo, Cameralabs, Megapixel and now DPReview are all on the same page.

DPreview's image quality ratings:

H2: 8.5 - (6 megapixels)
H5: 8.0 - (7 megapixels)
H9: 7.0 - (8 megapixels)

Just to clarify:
R1 has 'highly recommended' score on DPreview

What really is surprising, that in the face of all these reviews,

HOW HAVE I BEEN ABLE TO CAPTURE SO MANY REALLY GOOD IMAGES WITH MY H9?????????????

These reviewers must know something I don't.

And I hope to keep it that way.

To any newcomers, in the face of this tidal wave of horrific results, check out my Real Life User's Review - Conclusion thread.

Regards,

Nicholas

This review finally stabs thruH9's heart. The only thing good about H9 is itsbig pack offeatures. Then its gotlong list of cons, especially the unacceptable IQ part for many users.

so what now? wait for H9x , H10 or they gonna develop a new line of ultra zoom? or i shouldconsider S5iS. but as i said, i won't buy canon until they add this little feature: when setting to aperture priority, we can see the shutter speed reading prior to pressing shutter button half-way. same as when setting to S mode.

They certainly do, thats why people visit these camera review sitesto get an EXPERIENCED opinion from reviewers that are reviewing and comparingdifferent camera's full timeand just might know what they aretalking about.

You obviously are not too worried about image quality and thats ok as well, but you must appreciate that some people like to print 10x8 or better and certainly not as Simon says shoot the H9 under ISO 200 and the prints are ok at 5x7, there has now been 4 reviews stating the same problems which you think you know better, maybe you should start your own camera review site.

No-one said that it wouldn't be possible to get some great images with the camera, but maybe if you would use an other camera, the images would be even better.....

But if you are happy with your H9, just keep on shooting those pictures!
