Cyberf828, you may find this news article todayinteresting regarding Husky's:

Two-week-old girl fatally mauled by family pet
Tuesday Aug 28 11:00 AEST. AAP

A baby girl is dead after being mauled by her parents' pet husky dog as she slept in her cot.

The two-week-old was sleeping in the main bedroom of her family home in the Perth suburb of Willeton when the dog attacked at around 10pm last night.

The girl — who had only been home for a week — was rushed to Princess Margaret Hospital but died in intensive care at around 1am this morning.

WA Police spokesman Sergeant Graham Clifford said the girl was the first child of a couple who both have children from a previous relationship.

As you can imagine, it's an incredibly difficult time for the whole family," Sgt Clifford said.

The fate of the dog is unclear at this stage.

Huskies generally have a good reputation for being even-tempered and tolerant of children, but one website comes with a chilling warning.

"Any change in attitude towards the dog can cause jealousy," the author of Owning a Siberian Husky writes.

"If your dog is an inside dog and will be moved outside once the new baby comes, make sure you have moved the dog outside well before 'new baby' comes along so the dog does not associate the two events as being related."

What a terrible tragedy. :-( I cna'magine how horrible the family feels now.

On the flip side I found this story to show what even the littlest of dogs can do:

MASONVILLE, Colo. (AP) - Zoey is a Chihuahua, but when a rattlesnake lunged at her owners' one-year-old grandson, she was a real bulldog.

Booker West was splashing his hands in a birdbath in his grandparents' northern Colorado back yard when the snake slithered up to the toddler, rattled and struck. Five-pound Zoey jumped in the way and took the bites.

"She got in between Booker and the snake, and that's when I heard her yipe," said Monty Long, the boy's grandfather.

The dog required treatment and for a time it appeared she might not survive. Now she prances about.

"These little bitty dogs, they just don't really get credit," Booker's grandma Denise Long told the Loveland Daily Reporter-Herald.

Here is my oldest daughterand her beloved Gracie. :-) H9 pic.

We also love our birds in addition to our dogs. In my version of "Where's Waldo the Birdie", there are six birds in the photo.
