Default f717 to f828 lens compatibility

Would anyone know if the f717 add-on lens will function with the new f828 camera? I know they both use the 58mm filter size. Are there any features of the wide angle and telephoto add-on lens that would cause the image to be incorrect with the new camera? The lens models are VCL-HGD0758 and the VCL-HGD1758.

Thanks, Dennis

NO you can't add on lenses because the lens moves. Just read that at DP Review Sony forum.

Only mostly true. Sony itself lists the VCL-M3358
58mm close-up lens on the accessories page in
Japan.

My guess is that it depends on the mass of the
add-on lens. Above some limit, it may foul up
the camera's servo algorithms, if not actually
overload the drive motors.

Filter-size lenses are apparently OK. It's the
multi-element heavyweights that are a
problem.

But until some daring owners try it, we won't
know if we're just near, or in the margins, or
perhaps in the danger zone.

Sony might be working on a new generation of
lightweight add-on lenses, but I'd be more
likely to bet that they're working on the '828B,
which has a stationary front lens element.
