Default Soon to be u30 owner

I am going to buy a u30 with the money I will probably recieve on my birthday on the 28th. I have a few small questions:

Is it truly light enough to wear around your neck? I have a TRV66 handycam and it also comes with a "neck strap". It is nowhere near the weight of something I can really wear dispite the neck strap.

Secondly, does the flash stay off like everytime I turn it on? I don't like flash. Either give me an external flash port or no flash at all.

And lastly, how long do the batteries last, even if you don't use the camera?

Thanks!

You can select a mode where the flash is forced to be off (flash modes are; auto, forced on, forced off, red eye reduction).

If the U30 is like the U20 with regard to battery use, you can expect at least 2hr of battery life under 'typical' operation with the LCD/backlight on (and no flash).

If you don't use the camera, the batteries being NiMH will self discharge at a rate of about 30% per month.

Ok I bought it. It's a wonderful camera except for the fact that, for me at least, it's a bit heavy around my neck.

Eh, whatever.

I am impressed how I can record movies (6 minutes on an 8MB stick!!!!) and view them on my Clie. I thank sony for their anticipation of clie owners getting cybershots, or vica-versa.
