Hi Jack-

I notice there is a bit of a lack of activity on the this thread. I am again working on a deal to get another H-50. I must admit that I really did enjoy the H-50 when I had it.

Here is a Canon S-5 photo taken with the Canon EX-430 flash. It is impressive but I believe that the H-50 could do some equal IQ using just the H-50's built-in flash.

Hey Sarah... how goes your cruise trip/job?

I'm impressed with the H50 flash. For most indoor shots I have to turn the flash power down a stop or two. Much more powerful than the Canon s5is I had.

Looking at yours, that flash worked pretty good. Maybe I didn't have mine set right on the Canon? It was never that good.

That is good to know and cheap too! Thanks!

Also this is a good one made for the Sony H series:

The Sony Slave Flash (as pictured) is a good slave flash but it is somewhat underpowered when compared to the DigiSlave 3000 or the Metz 28 CS2 slave flashes. At least when one examines the specs. I have the Digi Slave 3000 on order and will post some photo if I receive it before we leave again on 09/22.

The little Sony slave flash is definitely NOT underpowered. I use it in my work to light very highwarehouse roofrafters when shooting from the ground with my H-5, using the zoom to get close-up shots. It has saved me several times where other on-camera flashes were too weak. It is small, light, and packs a punch at the high power setting (three power levels). Suprise as to how long the single battery lasts too!

Paniolo-

Thanks very much for your input with regard to the Sony Slave Flash. Perhaps I have been under estimating it. I also own the Sony Slave Flash, so I will give it another try and post some photos later on today.

Hi Jack-

I managed to get the H-50, once again, for $(US) 195.99, after my my trade-in, so I am a happy camper! It should arrive hereon Friday morning, 09/19, which will be perfect, as we depart for San Pedro on Monday, 09/22, to begin a new 2 month long contract for Princess Cruises in South America and the Caribbean.

Hi Jack-

The H-50 arrived right on schedule today. So I am having fun running it through some tests. The first test was how well can the H-50's built-in flash quench the flash when used for a macro or close-up photo. As you can see the H-50 passed with flying colors!
