Default Buying a 707 or wait?

Hi!

I am a owner of a s85 but I feel mature enough to try out the f707. This camera has been around for a quite long time. Is there any signs from sony of a upgrade in the near future?

Regards Daniel

Hi,

I own F707 and very much happy with this camera. Yes, there is a new model recently anownced. You can read the review of SONY D717 at: http://www.steves-digicams.com/2002_reviews/f717.html

However, have to state that it's just the same camera with small physical change of the zoom button and some others. But you will defenitely pay more for F717 as for the new model.

Default F707 or F717

I have just upgraded from a 505 to the F707 and it is stunning and easy to use. I can`t see any reason to go for the 717 unless you must have the latest.

Default F707

I'm a satisfied F707 owner, but I think it would be a waste of money to upgrade from an S85. Still, if you insist on getting the F series camera, wait for the F717. It's easier to use than the F707. If you're going to waste money, do it right.

Default 707/717 fence

IF you can find a retailer that gives deep discounts on the 707, now that they know that the 717 comes out in a few weeks, then that might be your best value.

The zoom ring, focus zone mode and full-novice auto features are nice, but not something I would pay big bucks to have. Since so many of the 717s features are in the 707, you might be better off with the latter and save some money.

The 717 is a great camera, and the new features are nice, but the 707 is no slouch.
