Hi,

I am new to this forum. I have gone thru this thread and found rilly good tips and information.

I have a H50 and i would like to know if this camera is good enough for a concert photography (small venue) ?

And what settings would you suggest ?

Shabz-

In my experience, I have found that the Sony H-50 pretty much tops out at ISO 800. Above ISO 800 you will still be able to record photos but the lost in image quality is substantial. You can also accept the "HIGH ISO" position on the Mode selector and get very high ISO settings, but again, it will be at the cost of image quality.

Personally, I do a lot of theater photography, and it was due to the ISO limitations of the Sony H-50 and Panasonic FZ-28, that I eventually moved to DSLR cameras.

Here is a high ISO photo sample taken with the Sony entry level DSLR camera, the A-230. The image is much better than I could have ever obtained with the H-50 camera.

Have a great day.

For the Pixel Peepers, here is a 100% crop of the photo posted immediately above.

Thanx Sarah for the info.

I am gonna shoot a club band performing this weekend with the H-50. I will try different modes and maybe then u can suggest me on how i can improve them.

one more thing, if i wanna take a grayscale pic, what would u suggest... i take the pic in grayscale mode from the camera or i take it in color and later make it grayscale via software ??

Shabz

----& if u could suggest me some good software & effects for concert photography editing !!!
