OK, I am following you now, Mark, it, at first, your post appeared rather convoluted-

Well, I do indeed own a Panasonic XS1, among a lot of other cameras. So I will set up that photo again, that was originally taken with the Sony WX-1, however, this time I will be using, per your request, the Panasonic ZS1 camera to take the photo.

Please stand-by.

Well, Mark-

Here is the requested photo taken with the Panasonic ZS1 camera. Clearly, it is sharper and more detailed that the photo taken by the Sony WX-1 camera.

I will let you make the noise evaluation.

Mark-

And for those among you, who do indeed like to Pixel Peek, here is a 100% crop of the above posted photo from the Panasonic ZS1.

Well as you can see, Folks-

The newly introduced Sony WX-1, while it may do very well at numerically elevated ISO settings, has begun to look like it lacks something in terms of image quality.

So the logical question seems to be this:why mess with a $309.00 compact camera, when any DSLR camera (probably $200.00 more) will probably do a better job?

Let's see if that is true, shall we? here is a Sony A-230 DSLR photo of the same set-up, as well as a 100% crop of that A-230 DSLR photo.

Well folks,

We have had a chance to look at this same photo taken with the Sony WX-1, the Panasonic ZS1, and finally with the Sony A-230, one of the least expensive DSLR cameras on the market today. i am glad that I kept everything set-up exactly the same and had not moved anything at all, all day long.

Well this has been a great exercise. What do you think? You have had the advantage of photo samples and 100% crops using each camera.

could you provide the ISO for the shots of the pentax camera with each camera tested. the sony a230 shots seem to be shot at pretty high ISO.
