Default trying to choose

Canon Powershot SX120 and Sony Cybershot DSC H20 are both pretty comprable point and shoot zooms. Besides differences in batteries and memory (card v. stick), which takes better pics?

Hi and welcome to Steve's.

One thing I would consider before you start looking at either of these is the wide angle setting. Neither is what I would find wide enough with 36mm on the Canon and 38mm on the Sony. For my 28mm is where I would want to be for a wide setting (or wider) to allow shooting groups of people and getting nice landscapes etc.

Thanks for the helpful advice. I tend to shoot more in the zoom mode, so this may not be a big issue for me. It seems that otherwise the cameras are pretty close in quality.

dan d-

No, I personally believe there is indeed a rather marked difference between the Canon SX-120 and the Sony H-20. The Sony H-20 is really the very clear winner in any competition between those two camera.
