Default hx1 image size etc.

I kept the Hx1 and am out of town with so many photo ops from snowy upper state NY to my 3yr old grandgirl princess of the day.

My biggest concerns are;

overblown images both outdoor and in. THe girls pale skin is frequently washed out.

AND

what image size would be best for me.

I plan to print mostly 4x6 prints, occasional larger ones and lateley make a lot of photo books. So I like finebecause I do a lot of photo editing.

Should I choose 4:3 or 3:2.
Someone had recommended 16:9 but now i've read that sides will be cut off.
I seldom view photos on TV. Frequently on computer.

Can't send an example as I have no way here of downloading a photo.

Thanks for help.

Texas Mom-

You are going to have to either use your Snow Scene Mode or some Exposure Compensation to prevent those washed out faces. As to format, I would 4:3.

try to use scene modes just what mtclimber suggested.. scene modes really help to use the camera easier and create better image quality. but you don't have to pick the scene mode according to the scene always.. you can experiment. for me, i always use portrait mode when i'm shooting people with faces and then i turn on the flash depending on the environment.. "no flash" if the sun is up or if it is indoors, "flash on" for dim light or for a different effect, "soft flash" for cloudy days..

if you want to use 4:3 then stay with 9M, if you want 16:9 then stay with 6M, as you stated you do a lot of editing, staying at the largest size gives you the option to resize the photo smaller. its much better to resize the photo smaller than to have it blown up. Image quality may suffer.

it depends on your display.. if your display is wide/HD then use 16:9. if not then use 4:3

hope that helps. enjoy the snow

Hello all,
I've had my HX1 for some time now but I'm now just getting into the forums for more advanced advice. I must say that I am very impressed with the cameras overall performance, I see some very beautiful work being shared here.

Please allow me to share A few of my favorites
