Default DH1758 lens for DSC H20

Hi All,

I'm planning to buy the DH1758 1.7x lens for my Sony Cybershot DSC H20.

Can you please let me know if it will fit straight in the DSC-H20 or it will require the lens adapter VAD-HA ??

The VAD-HA is out of stock in all online stores

Please help

You can check at www.sonystyle.com, but I believe that the lens adapter is required.

An adapter is always required to mount converters on any zoom camera. Think this way, as you zoom in/out, the lens expands/contracts. Unless there is an adapter where the converter gets attached to, how will it be possible to attach the converter to the camera? Some super zoom cameras (i.e. FZ18/FZ28, etc.) have threaded lens and you may be able to attach a step up ring to the lens and then the converter but that is not recommended as the converter is way too heavy for the lens to support and it may damage the lens alignment. I bought the H3 for my son two years or so ago and it came with an adapter. Doesn't the H20 come with an adapter?

Tullio-

No, while the Sony H-3 did come with the lens adapter, that is not true for the Sony H-20. Now it is sold as an accessory.

I have that lense on my Sony DSC-H10.
The H10 did NOT need and extra adapter. It came in the H10 Box.

Unbelievable! How much can the adapter cost Sony? $1-$2/ea if that since they would be buying in bulk?!?

The DH1758 is a great tele converter. I have one and used it on my Sony H1, Canon S2, Pana FZ20, Pana FZ18 and now on my FZ28. But I must say it performs best on the Sony. For the Panas, the Oly TCON-17 is a better choice.
