These were taken by my wife at night with flash. First one is downsized for posting, second one is a 100% crop of the original 3648x2736 image.

Don't claim to be photographers, but for a quick "watch out where you step" shot, I thought they were pretty amazing.

It looks like you have a Scorpion. Well recorded.

The 3rd image with the Yellow Flower is my favorite of the bunch. Nice composition.

I quite like the flower shots. The beach shots are OK but the horizon is way too tilted. If the HX5 has grids, turn it on while shooting scenes where the horizon is very evident to help you keep the camera straight. The Ricoh CXn cameras have a nice feature to help keeping the horizon straight. It's a horizontal bar at the bottom of the LCD, which works like a level. It turns green when the camera is straight. Very handy indeed.

Hi, I’m a newbie to this dialogue about the strengths and weaknesses of the Sony Hx5v. I’m trying to decide whether to buy an Hx5v, or another P&S, such as the ZS7, or something else with at least 10x optical zoom/10 megapixels. I’ve not seen much comment about one feature that’s very important to me right now: How does the continuous burst perform when shooting at maximum fps and full resolution?

One of my sons plays 3rd base on his high school team, so I’d like to get shots of him batting, fielding, and throwing this coming season. Most of my shots will be in good outdoor lighting shooting through the backstop fence.

>Which P&S cameras shoot 10fps at full resolution?

>When shooting at 10fps/full resolution what is the maximum number shots per burst? (I think you get 10 shots with Hx5v, how many do you get with the ZS7? Nikon S8100 stops at 5 shots?)

>Does the lcd display show you the moving subject during the shots?

>How long does it take to save the images to a memory card? (16 seconds for Hx5v??)

>And, always important, in terms of color rendition and image detail, how do the burst images compare between the Hx5v, the ZS7, or the S8100 or other P&S models?

Lots of questions about a special niche, but I know there are members of this forum who can help me with their answers and recommendations. Thanks!
