Well, my own HX5 arrived late this afternoon (03/31), while I was teaching two classes at our local Community College. My husband goes with me to help with one on one instruction during the Photoshop Elements class.

When we finally got home, I had dinner to prepare, so it was not until later in the evening that I even got to open the HX5. Attached is a sample macro photo taken without flash at ISO 800 using the HHT (handheld twilight mode).

Thanks Sarah,

I really like the color and how it handles 800iso. There noise is well with in the good realm, better then acceptable.

Does it do 1600iso, if so can you post a photo if you have the time?

Thanks again.

acheron-

Thanks for the congratulations. I am still getting my feet on the ground with the new HX5. We have often mentioned that the HX5 is very user friendly. Well, here is a photo that one of my students took of me this morning, in a no flash test.

The existing lighting in the classroom is provided by fluorescent lighting, so I was interested to see how the AWB would cope with the lighting. I think it did pretty well.

Have a great day.

At that size it looks good. Can we see a crop or two when you get time?

Also, I am wondering if you (or anyone else) could let me know how the GPS is. I've become more and more interested in this feature considering my primary use for a P&S. I am wondering what happens if I take a photo, turn the camera off, then hike a few miles and take another photo. Will it take 3-5 minutes for the GPS to lock again or is it simply a matter of seconds?

OK, everyone wants to see what ISO 1600 looks like on the HX5. These are with AWB under sodium vapor lighting. Here you go.
