Default Will there be a successor to the HX1?

What do you Sony people think? Is the HX1 the last in the line of "super zooms" for Sony?

I hate to see everything new being non EVF tiny cameras,..... but business is business, I guess.

Hi there, Jack-

Well the jury is out on that question. Canon did not create a SX-2 follow-on camera. There are a lot of folks, myself included, that hope that Sony will provide a replacement model for the HX-1, but probably an equal number that think that Sony will do just as Canon did.

Hi Sarah Joyce,

I love the long zoom cameras. To me, they are technical masterpieces. It seems that each brand has certain special features. The Sony HX1 seems to have most of what I want, fairly light weight, on board panorama, and the great high speed burst. Canon SX20 is a good camera but too heavy for me and woefully weak on burst.

I use the Panasonic FZ35. It has most of what I want and I think the line will probably be continued. There's a great high speed burst mode hidden in the SCN setting and the videos are wonderful. I doubt I will be able to resist the new model. Still, it's always nice to have several brands to choose from.

Just stopped in for a visit,...

I'm surprised that Sony has not followed up the HX1, especially considering the new features in their HX5 and TX7. Some of these features, and SDHC compatibility should be enough to justify a new super zoom HX model.

If the line is over, it's over. Sure is a shame though.

Jack-

on July 8th Sony announced a new WX-5, so perhaps they have not yet gotten to the HX-2.
